Three colour systems live on the Schedule: who is this person, what is this shift, and who is away.
The initials chip: employment type
The round chip with a person's initials - on shift cards in the By area and Day views, on the team rail, and on each row of the By member view - is coloured by their employment type:
- Blue - full-time
- Violet - part-time
- Amber - casual
- Grey - no employment type set yet
A key appears under the schedule once anyone on your team has an employment type set (or has time off showing). Hovering a person's row in the By member view also spells the type out in words.
To set someone's employment type, open their profile from Team and choose it under Employment & pay. Grey chips are the nudge that someone hasn't been classified yet - employment type also drives award rates and the weekly overtime threshold, so it's worth setting for everyone.
Two kinds of shift sit outside this system. Trial-shift candidates get a TRIAL corner tag and a dashed border (they aren't employees yet). Shifts covered through the Supp marketplace carry a green Supp chip, which shows the casual's name and photo once someone is booked and turns amber when the shift needs your attention.
The dot: role colour
The small coloured dot on a shift card is the role colour - the colour you picked for each role (Bar, Floor, Barista, ...) when setting it up. It answers "what job is this shift", while the chip answers "what kind of contract does this person have".
Time off: rose
Time off is rose (pink) everywhere on the schedule, with the leave type written on the chip:
- Solid rose - approved leave
- Dashed rose outline - a leave request you haven't decided yet
- Dashed grey outline - unavailability the worker has set
Red is kept for things that need you: compliance warnings and declined shifts.
Everything else on a card
- Background: dashed on cream is a draft; an orange wash with "Open" is unfilled, red once it starts within 24 hours; green means the timesheet is approved; past shifts fade. Event shifts have an orange left edge.
- Corner icon (hover for words): green tick confirmed, amber ring awaiting the worker's reply, red cross declined; orange for a timesheet awaiting approval, green once approved, red when nobody clocked on.
- Triangle: a compliance flag, red when critical, amber when a warning.
- Day headers: today in orange, an amber dot for a public holiday, a blue dot for school holidays, and the weather forecast.
